Hidden in a forested valley above the Moselle River, Burg Eltz is one of Germany's best-preserved medieval castles. High above the Rhine River, Marksburg Castle is one of the finest examples of a true medieval fortress in Germany. Unlike many castles along the Rhine, Marksburg was never destroyed, allowing visitors to experience a remarkably authentic medieval stronghold.

Overlooking the Moselle River, Cochem Castle is one of Germany's most recognisable riverside castles. Originally built in the 11th century, the castle was destroyed during conflicts in the 17th century before being rebuilt in the romantic style popular during the 19th century.
