Poulnabrone Dolmen is one of Ireland's most recognisable prehistoric monuments. This Neolithic portal tomb stands dramatically among the limestone landscape of the Burren. Built over 5,000 years ago, the monument consists of a large capstone balanced on upright stones and was used as a burial site by Ireland's early farming communities. Its isolated position among the rocky Burren landscape makes it one of the most atmospheric ancient sites in Ireland, easily combined with hiking and cycling.
