La Loire à Vélo follows the Loire river from Saint-Brévin-les-Pins on the Atlantic coast past the great châteaux of the Loire Valley — Chambord, Chenonceau, Amboise — to Cuffy near Nevers, largely on dedicated, traffic-free cycle paths.

Flat and easy throughout, mostly on dedicated cycle track along the riverbanks and old towpaths, making it accessible to families and casual cyclists rather than requiring serious touring fitness. Well signed as part of the EuroVelo 6 route.

Tips

The châteaux section between Blois and Tours is the busiest and most rewarding for sightseeing — allow extra days here rather than rushing through. Bike hire and luggage transfer services are widely available along the whole route, so touring without your own bike is easy.
