Opened in 1980 as Ireland's first waymarked way, the Wicklow Way runs from Marlay Park on the edge of Dublin to Clonegal in County Carlow, crossing the Wicklow Mountains via Glendalough's monastic site and open heather moorland within easy reach of the capital.

Streckenkarte

Gelände

A mix of forest track, boglands on boardwalk, and open mountain moorland, with the highest and boggiest section around Djouce Mountain in the first couple of days. Generally well waymarked with the yellow walking-man symbol used on all Irish National Waymarked Ways.

Tipps

Being so close to Dublin, the first day or two can get busy with day walkers, especially around Glendalough — a highlight worth allowing extra time for. Irish weather turns quickly on the open moorland sections, so pack for rain regardless of season.
